Nestling Cradle Helps Baby to Sleep More Soundly
A Christmas card depicting the nativity scene was all it took to prompt NSW Inventor, Sharon Donaldson, to design a cradle that reduced her baby rolling into dangerous positions and waking unnecessarily.
“After my first baby kept slipping into the corners of her bassinette and waking, I wanted to find something better before I had my next child. There is a real risk of suffocation if the baby rolls onto it’s front and gets stuck in the corner,” Sharon said.

Dale Ward and his partner Debbie have lost their house, gone into debt and damaged their health, and they've been screwed and ripped off. Yet they are convinced Dale's ideas are good, and they've started making headway. The Chillmaster milk cooling method is faster than conventional cooling, uses much less power, the equipment costs about 30% less than usual, and the milk doesn’t have to be mechanically agitated. Using his system in reverse (heating not cooling) is impressing winemakers. He uses it to treat tainted wine which would normally be dumped, and make it saleable.

Mask that Saves Lives Much to his dismay, Melbourne inventor Graham Farrell, found that thousands of people were trained in resuscitation but were reluctant to use their skills because they feared disease transmission.
“In my experience, first aid students often said that they did not feel safe resuscitating patients using available protective shields. Instead, they would place the patient in a coma position and call an ambulance,” Graham said.

Plastic Perfection Gold Coast inventor Peter Castellanos knows a thing or two about plastic. In fact he has so much faith in its versatility and strength that he is willing to wage his own weight against it. Using his latest invention, Nylon Plastic Universal Hose Clamp, he is willing to hang from his workshop roof to demonstrate its durability. Not bad considering the clamp is only 300mm long and as small as 10mm in width.
Hose clamps are one of those items that most people don’t think about, however they can be found in very common places. For example, on average, your car’s engine uses 50 hose clamps of varying size and when one of these leak it often results in a break down.
Peter loves to make things and solve problems. He has run his own plastic moulding business for the last twelve years and it was the frustration of continuously replacing corroded metal hose clamps that led to his invention.
“I use a multitude of hoses in my own business, especially in water cooling systems. I seemed to always be replacing the metal hose clamps, which became expensive, especially due to machine down time,” Peter said.
And as with many inventors, Peter knew there had to be a better way and he turned straight to plastic for the answers.
“ The types of plastics we have today are terrific, I knew I could easily give the metal clamps a run for their money,” Peter said.
